Distribution days start before sunrise. Boxes are sorted and labelled, lists of households are checked against what community leaders have shared with us, and teams set off to reach families who cannot easily travel to collect support themselves.
Some parcels go by vehicle. Many go the last stretch on foot — carried on shoulders and heads along paths no truck could manage.
Many of our volunteers grew up in the same communities they now serve. They know the roads, they know the families, and they know how much a timely delivery can mean to a grandmother caring for several grandchildren, or a household recovering from illness.
"People think we are just carrying food," one volunteer told us at the end of a long day. "But really we are carrying the message that somebody remembered them."
Our volunteers are students, teachers, drivers, nurses and retirees. What they share is a belief that change is something you do, not something you wait for.
